Dreaming of embarking onto the next chapter of your love story through a beautiful Indian destination wedding, where time seems to stand still, and you’re surrounded by your dearest friends and family, celebrating the journey ahead? Anand and Megha, a New York-based couple, shared this dream too, envisioning a weekend of joy-filled extravagance, enchanting sunsets, and culinary delights.
To transform their dream into reality, they entrusted us, luxury destination wedding planners, with the task of designing and executing their glamorous three-day luxury destination Indian wedding in Spain at The Ritz-Carlton, Abama Hotel.
We invite you to immerse yourself in the unfolding tale of their spectacular events and to get inspired with the tips and advice we’ve included to help you turn your dream of a Spanish destination wedding into a reality.

ToggleAnand and Megha kicked off their wedding celebrations with a colorful Pithi Ceremony surrounded by their dearest. Laughter filled the air as guests applied Haldi on the beautiful couple. The bride initially tried to protect her custom-made floral lehenga, but her mischievous cousins soon had her join in the fun. The event culminated in a delightful splash as the couple was tossed into the hotel’s swimming pool
We curated a boho-chic for the Welcome Party at The Ritz-Carlton’s Mirador Garden, drawing inspiration from beach clubs of Tulum, Mexico, a favourite holiday destination of our couple. A neutral color palette evoking sandy beaches, caramel, beige, and orange hues set the tone. Aperol Spritz cocktails flowed freely as Megha and Anand welcomed their guests. The flavours of the world inspired menu, curated by the head chef at The Ritz-Carlton, was a nod to the diverse group of guests attending this special occasion. Friends and family gave speeches giving us an insight into how Anand and Megha met and the evening ended with a magnificent fireworks display that lit up the entire sky, offering a glimpse of the grandeur to come in the following days of this lavish destination wedding in Spain.
The Sangeet drew inspiration from “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” creating an enchanting atmosphere adorned in pastel shades like peach, powder blue, and baby pink, tailored to the bride’s wishes. A memorable entrance by the couple, accompanied by the renowned Drummer’s Delight and a bespoke song, ignited the evening. Close family and friends added to the magic with heartfelt performances, showering Anand and Megha with their love.
Set against the stunning backdrop of the Atlantic Ocean on a cliff’s edge, Anand and Megha’s dream mandap was a vision of lush foliage and white flowers. The bride’s vision of an overgrown garden mandap was brought to life thanks to the expertise of our skilled floral partners from Madrid, Aquilea. An asymmetrical wooden Mandap, adorned with a diverse array of green foliage and cream roses, created a captivating sense of depth. Megha left everyone speechless as she walked down the aisle in a pristine white floral Sabyasachi lehenga to the melody of ‘Hold Me by Abi Sampa,’ with Anand’s eyes never leaving her throughout the ceremony.
To conclude this extraordinary three-day Indian destination wedding in Spain, we created a tropical disco, fitting for our uber-chic couple from New York. Over 100 disco balls arrived from Germany, and lush tropical leaves from the island adorned the space. A stunning ceiling installation loomed over the white and black dancefloor, making a grand statement. To add to the enchantment of the evening, we featured dancers dressed in mirror outfits, resembling mirror balls themselves, welcoming guests into the ballroom with a soundtrack of 70s disco tunes. DJ Shraii kept the dancefloor alive until the early hours, with some guests leaving directly from the reception dinner to catch their flights. This unforgettable night left many guests in awe of the unique experience.

Spain boasts a plethora of enchanting locations for your dream destination wedding, each offering unique landscapes, breath taking views, and exquisite settings. Here, we present our favourite Spanish locations, perfect for an Indian destination wedding:
Sevilla, known for its majestic venues, historical spaces, and beautiful Haciendas, captures the essence of character and rich heritage. If you’ve always dreamt of a royal wedding, Sevilla is your ultimate destination.
Famously referred to as the capital of the Mediterranean, Barcelona is an exclusive city offering an array of venues for couples to choose from. From historic landmarks like The Universitat de Barcelona to intimate settings like La Baronia, Barcelona provides diverse options. It’s also convenient for couples traveling from the US and Australia, thanks to direct flights to Barcelona Airport.
For those seeking island vibes and a wedding backdrop against the glistening ocean, Ibiza and Mallorca are the perfect choices. These beautiful islands present a luxurious experience in unique villas or exclusive hotels. The promise of the most stunning sunsets adds to the allure of these exquisite destinations.
Spain is blessed great weather throughout the year and minimal rainfall, making it ideal for couples seeking an outdoor Indian destination wedding. However, we do recommend to steer clear of months with extreme temperatures, particularly from mid-July to the beginning of September, when temperatures can reach 40 degrees Celsius making it uncomfortable for you and your guests. Keep in mind that Indian wedding ceremonies typically last between 2-3 hours, but guests would be outside in the sun for longer, dancing in the baraat, add that to the heavy Indian outfits and jewellery everyone will be wearing – it can become an uncomfortable experience if the weather is too hot.
It’s also essential to check for significant festivals or events in your chosen city before confirming the wedding dates. These festivities can lead to higher travel and accommodation costs, potentially affecting your and your guest’s budget. To maximize value and service quality, consider scheduling your wedding outside of peak festival dates and school holidays.
Our favourite time of the year to celebrate a wedding in Spain is from March to June and from mid-September to December.
Destination weddings offer a canvas of creativity, allowing you to design a truly unique and memorable experience for you and your guests. While the possibilities are limitless, we’ve curated a three-day itinerary that we’ve executed successfully on numerous occasions. This itinerary guarantees a seamless flow of events and creates cherished memories that will last a lifetime.
We kick off the festivities with a splendid welcome party on the first night. This event serves as a perfect icebreaker, enabling guests to get to know each other, fostering connections among extended families, and providing you with a great opportunity to personally welcome every guest.
Our extensive experience with planning destination weddings tells us that this initial night sets the tone for the rest of the celebration. It’s a night of fun, laughter, and excitement, setting the stage for a remarkable journey.
If you are hosting a destination wedding in Spain, consider including local flavours and entertainment on this night. Imagine guests arriving at the venue to the sound of a Spanish guitar playing, getting a sense of the local cuisine with Spanish tapas passing around throughout the evening, and then being brought onto the dance floor with talented and gorgeous flamenco dancers. Trust us, it will be a night to remember!
Day two commences with a colorful Haldi ceremony held late in the morning (you need guests to recover from that stunning Welcome Party you threw the night before). If any pre-wedding rituals and ceremonies need to take place, you can seamlessly incorporate them into this event. Maybe consider including cocktails and an Indian street food brunch here.
As the sun sets, it’s time for the most awaited event of any Indian wedding – the Sangeet! Hosting the Sangeet on the second day ensures a large celebration. It’s a moment when all guests come together, uniting like a big family gathering. It’s a night of dance, music, and unforgettable joy.
We love a relaxed experience for the couple and guests attending, and to achieve this, we recommend an evening wedding ceremony followed by a sunset cocktail reception and a sit-down dinner when planning the itinerary for a destination wedding.
This itinerary allows you to enjoy your wedding day in a relaxed way with your closest ones and take the most stunning photos during the golden hour as a newly married couple.
Our recommended three-day itinerary for a perfect Indian destination wedding is a solid foundation and has worked perfectly in most destination weddings we have planned over the years, but we’re here to tailor every detail to your specific desires and dreams. Our expertise lies in curating unique experiences that reflect your vision, creating a celebration that’s authentically yours.
When it comes to the attire for Indian destination weddings, we have a soft spot for sarees and lehengas. A lehenga, a stylish two-piece ensemble with a short blouse and a high-waisted skirt paired with a matching or contrasting stole, adds an elegant touch to your Indian attire. Alternatively, a saree, a long fabric wrapped around you, exudes timeless grace.
Whether you are tying the knot in Spain or attending an Indian wedding in this picturesque country, remember that Spain boasts warm climates. With comfort in mind, opt for fabrics that keep you cool and at ease in sun-drenched venues. Embrace lighter colors that reflect the elegance of destination weddings. And here’s a tip: floral prints are always a winner, adding a touch of holiday vibes to your ensemble.
Avoid heavy velvets and intricate embroideries unless specially requested by the couple.
To help you with your Indian wedding shopping, we have curated a list of our favourite Indian bridal designers for destination weddings. Among them are renowned names like Sabyasachi, Manish Malhotra, Tamanna Punjabi Kapoor, and Papa Don’t Preach by Shubhika. These designers understand the unique charm of destination weddings and have a flair for creating outfits that stand out in any setting.
For menswear, we highly recommend esteemed designers like Kunal Rawal, Sabyasachi, Anita Dongre, and Manish Malhotra. They offer tradition and modernity, ensuring the groom and his entourage look as distinguished as the occasion.
Megha in a beautiful beige Sabyasachi lehenga with large flowers, and Anand in an elegant cream Sherwani, both by Sabyasachi, for their destination Indian wedding.
When crafting the perfect Indian destination wedding in Spain, the vendor selection process plays a pivotal role. We recommend booking vendors with a wealth of experience in multi-day destination weddings, as these events demand a unique skill set, including exceptional logistics management.
Indian weddings are complex events running from early morning to late at night over multiple days, it’s essential to ensure your vendors can handle the demands of these long days under the sun. The last thing you want is for your vendors to be fatigued by when your wedding ceremony arrives. Be sure to inquire about their experience with multi-day weddings in warm destinations.
At Karishma Manwani Events, we take pride in collaborating with wedding vendors of impeccable reputation to guarantee the high quality and service we are known for. It’s a cornerstone of creating a seamless and unforgettable experience for our clients.
Furthermore, if your budget allows, we strongly advise considering the services of a dedicated destination wedding planner. Not only do most local suppliers not speak English, but this language barrier can add complexity to communication, potentially leading to misunderstandings that may only surface on your wedding day.
A wedding planner bridges this communication gap and minimizes the need for you to take excessive time off work or other commitments. They handle the bulk of the planning, allowing you to focus on the excitement of your impending nuptials. You can even rely on them for site inspections through video calls, ensuring that every detail aligns with your vision.
Selecting the right team of vendors and having a wedding planner are vital steps in ensuring that your Indian destination wedding in Spain is a flawless, stress-free affair for you and your family. These professionals will help bring your dream wedding to life while you enjoy the blissful journey of getting married.
Your Indian destination wedding in Spain should be an exciting and enjoyable experience, one filled with lasting memories.
